These words were spoken to my wife and me by a doctor on the morning after birth of our first child James Tiberius on September 26,1969.

This book is a series of anecdotes about a father and his Down syndrome son. Ut traces the relationships that Tiberius establishes with the members of his family and the people he encounters at school, work and in the community.

It is a story of challenges, love accomplishments and laughter.

About the Author

John T. Ryan is a retired high school teacher who lives in London Ontario Canada. He married his high school sweetheart, Cathy in 1968. Their first child, Tiberius, who has Down syndrome, continues to live at home with his dad. The other two children, Rebecca and Tobias, like John, are teachers. They are both married and have provided Tiberius with two nieces and two nephews. John plays golf twice a week in the summer, is an avid gardener, coaches basketball in the winter and regards himself fortunate to be able to share his life with his son.
