Berea, KY – Julia Jones grew up in the Berkshire Hills of Western Massachusetts and in Brooklyn, New York where her father, the Rev. John Paul Jones, an outspoken critic of his times, served as pastor of the Union Church of Bay Ridge for 25 years. The author received her B.A. degree from Pennsylvania State College in 1947. After a year of postgraduate studies in photography, magazine editing and production at the University of Minnesota, she went on to earn her living as a writer. In 1950 she married Robert M. Hensley, the father of her six children. The family moved to Kentucky in 1954. Ms. Hensley has worked as a journalist, publications editor, and freelance writer/photographer. From 1983-1999 she published SNEWS, The Chimney Sweep News, an eclectic trade magazine for professional chimney sweeps. She sold SNEWS in 1999, moved to Berea, Kentucky and kept on writing. This is her first book.
