About the Author

Peter Tumarkin was born in 1936 in New York City, son of Maurice Tumarkin and Carolyn Kunst Tumarkin. He studied English at Harvard University, followed by graduate work in Philosophy in Frankfurt, Germany. After returning to the U.S. he graduated from Cornell with degrees in Russian and Linguistics. In 1974 Peter started Peter Tumarkin Fine Books, which specialized in rare 16th-19th century German and French First Editions and which he ran for over twenty years. Peter Tumarkin wrote poetry throughout his life and this collection reflects that, with works written over the span of more than fifty years. Although his poems have appeared in several literary journals, this is the first full-length collection of his work to be published.
