BUILDING A HEALTHY LASTING MARRIAGE

About the Book

In 2008, I came to the point of desperation in my marriage. I felt no hope for experiencing the marriage that I wanted and that I felt God wanted for my husband and I —a marriage that honored Him. We had just passed our third anniversary, and I did not feel I could go on another year. Through the years, I had tried to find ways to make changes and improve things, but it seemed that the harder I tried, the worse it got, and all things are possible with God. We believe no brokenness in a Christian marriage is impossible for God to mend. God intends marriage to be permanent. The Bible teaches, “God is love.” It also teaches us that this God of love hates divorce. Divorce not only breaks hearts and destroys marriages and families, but, more often than not, it is the result of unforgiveness and lack of faith. Marriage is a blessing from God and not a curse it also requires a person to be moral. Before going into marriage one must be old enough to know what is right and what is wrong. He or she must be willing to live a life that follows what is right. Before marriage one should be willing to give up living in a manner that is not right before God and should be willing to give up any sinful behavior. Two are better than one for they can help each other in succeeding. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people a man and a woman lying down together can keep each other warm. But how can one be alone. Ecclesiastes 4:9-11 For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together let not man separate.” Matthew 19: 5-6 It so simple, yet so many take for granted the very covenant that is made with God on the marriage day. The words of love are said over and over as thousands upon thousands stand before God pledging their love to one another. Having made us male and female, God instituted marriage for the proper expression and exploration of our masculinity and femininity. To enjoy marriage as God intended we must live it as He instructed. This is the way to bring gladness to our hearts and glory to our God in marriage. May God help us to have better marriage and better families’ honor and glorifying Him.

Chaplain Joyce Ohene-Amoah is a Youth Advocate, Motivational speaker, Life Coach, Youth Counselor and a Chaplain of New York State Chaplain Task Force. Mark Asante-Manu the Senior Pastor of Upper Room Assembly of God as the Associate Pastor, the Youth Pastor and the Church Administrator, Joyce is a student of Global University (Berean School of the bible), a Medical Assistant by profession, she is also the founder and the executive director of Touching Lives Foundations Inc USA, and TL Foundations some part in African, Joyce has been called to use her life experiences in bringing Youth and Young adults to the Lord. She mentors a group of Girls &Young Women called Ladies of Virtue; in this group she teaches and prepares them to become Women of Substance and also how to wait on the Lord for their call into marriage.
