About the Book

Welcome to the exciting world of administration! or Are you pondering entering the exciting world of administration? Either way I hope this book helps you in pursuit of an administrative position or at least helps you by realizing mistakes made by administrators plus the attributes of knowledgeable administrators. I have worked under a knowledgeable administrator and others who were not the best of administrators. Administration is a great experience that has a new day involved with it every time you go to work. Just never forget your past experiences to help with your administrative position or to decide whether administration is the way you want to go. In this field there is something to do every minute of the day. As an administrator you may as well say goodbye to conference periods, lunch periods and leaving right after school. Always remember your years of teaching can be very useful when moving to administration. There is no better advice than when you experience the good and bad administrators you have in your career. In my case I never really had the opportunity to work under a successful and steady administrator until it came to my first year in administration. I finally met the administrator who talked the talk and walked the walk to get his staff to perform at their full potential and exceed. I couldn’t ask for a better situation. You will learn a lot when you work under one of the best if not the best principal in the district. As you read this book my hope is that the tips can at least help you in some way figure out what type of administrator you want to be. Remember you can say all you want, but unless you do something about it all it will ever be is talk. You want to be the type of administrator who goes into the classrooms and does lunch duty even if it means helping mop up spills. Don’t be the type of administrator that just sits in their office and has other people do their work. All of my four years teaching experience came from the same school. I worked under different administrators and my tips come from working under these individuals. I hope this book flows in a way that isn’t too hard to follow. Please enjoy the story and yes these are real administrators that I worked under. None of this information is made up.
