About the Author

Marlena Catherine Grooms is the firstborn of Sammy W. Grooms and Susan Maria Merrick-Grooms. Marlena wore ballet shoes as soon as she could walk, and seems to have danced her way into a busy life of performing arts and eventful leadership ever since. Marlena performed with Ms. Dottie's ballet studio in Katy, Texas (a suburb of Houston), then with the Katy Dance Arts Company. She performed in The Nutcracker with the Allegro Ballet of Houston and served as Assistant Director in the musical, The Pied Piper, for the Katy Visual and Performing Arts Company. She currently works as a professional graphic artist and also volunteers tirelessly for the AnamCara Autism Camp, as two of her brothers have autism and they dearly love this camp. She enjoys writing, performing with the Martinettes drill team, 1940’s fashions, being a fan of Anjelica Huston and her work, listening to Rock Opera, and developing her aspiration to be a freelance photographer. Marlena has traveled to Paris and has been across the US and northern Mexico. Now a junior in high school, she resides with her mom and dad and three brothers in Katy, Texas.
