About the Book

Tanya is the story of a mutant child, born with twice the intelligence of an average human, and possessing many unusual abilities which surprise and entertain as she discovers on her own what she can accomplish. She is the first of a new race of humans on earth, but she later learns there are many intelligent humans like her in the galaxy. Tanya is born with the ability to access all the knowledge and ability of her ancestors from engrafted memory on her DNA. What makes Tanya different is her ability to access this knowledge from birth. Born with the mind of a fully mature adult, she struggles in the body of an infant through her first year of life, but once she gains physical control of her body, she is unstoppable. Tanya, using her extraordinary powers, is able to create an island nation of the best and brightest people on earth, and then create colonies on the moon and Mars. Along the way, she makes several startling scientific discoveries, confronts evil people and stops them in amusing and non-violent ways. In the end she achieves her goal of taking humans from earth to the stars. This enchanting fantasy story is an excellent choice for young people ages 12 to 14.

About the Author

Haskell Shelton was born in El Paso, Texas, and attended the University of Texas, majoring in English with a minor in Spanish. He quickly discovered that a liberal arts degree was not the path to a good job. When a bored interviewer at one company told him they were not hiring any novel readers, he made the decision to go to law school, and graduated with a J.D. from the University of Texas Law School. The fi rst eight years of his career were as a federal prosecutor, beginning in his native El Paso, then later in Detroit Michigan where he was a member of the federal Strike Force, charged with the prosecution of organized crime. From there he moved to Bay City Michigan as an Assistant U.S. Attorney. In was during these early years that his learned his trade as a trial attorney, before establishing a private practice of law. Now retired, Haskell lives in Midland, Michigan with his wife Joy. The couple has three children and eight grandchildren. This is the second novel for Haskell, the fi rst being ‘Tanya, First of a New Race,’ a fantasy novel for children.
