About the Book
In ACROSS THE BORDER, the author vividly describes how his grandparents and his own immediate family made their way into the United States. As Mexican immigrants they settled in a barrio in the Imperial Valley, where as a family they followed the migration of the lettuce season throughout California. The Garibay family witnessed the reality of crime, drug addiction and poverty that was prevalent throughout their neighborhood. With parental love and support, the family learned to look beyond the everyday challenges to achieve the American Dream.
