Expect the unexpected and the unusual when you go Off Road. Take Garrett—the hired man—who picks the right numbers in the lottery, but can’t seem to pick the right draw. Or Elvira Classen who—shunned by her heartthrob in high school—gets her revenge at an auction sale.

Some of these stories are told with a tongue-in-cheek humour while others tackle the sterner side of reality: Old Mrs. Burg coming to terms with a gay son; the widower farmer who meets God in the cow pasture . . . or maybe not.

Although mainly set in the Canadian prairie, the events portrayed are really about all places, and all times.

About the Author

George Epp was born and raised in the Saskatchewan Valley near Rosthern. He fashioned his career around words and spent many rewarding years teaching and coaching teenagers and adults in the art of writing. Semi-retired, he writes religious educational material and maintains two blogs on current events and books, often reflecting his enthusiasm for peace and justice issues. What I meant to say was . . . is a collection of essays on a variety of subjects, seen from the viewpoint of a liberal Anabaptist Christian.
