About the Author
Carmilla Young Casteal was born and raised in Winnsboro, Fairfield County, South Carolina, to the parents of Thomas Young and Carrie Young. Carmilla graduated from Fairfield Central High School, class of 1994. She attended Claflin University, Orangeburg, South Carolina, where she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in health and physical education in 1999. Carmilla decided to further her education by attending South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, South Carolina, where she received her master of education degree in elementary physical education, class of 2004. Currently, Carmilla is pursuing her educational specialist (EdS) degree at Webster University in school systems, superintendency, and leadership. Carmilla Young Casteal remains in Orangeburg, South Carolina, where she has been teaching for eight years as a physical education teacher at Mellichamp Elementary School. She is a proud and devoted mother of three beautiful girls—Zharia, 8; Zhaire, 5; and Zhanaya, 2. It has been the last eight years that Carmilla Young Casteal has been instructed, disciplined, and molded spiritually. Because of her spiritual guidance, five years ago, under the leadership of Pastor Antonio L. Gathers and Lady Catherine Gathers, she was able to accept, deal with, and begin to release what was in her heart. As of today, after still receiving continuous spiritual guidance, Carmilla has accepted her call as a Minister; and now is ministering at Life Cathedral Ministries, Orangeburg, South Carolina.
