About the Book

Presented in story form, this book elaborately discusses the complications of heart disease and women’s health in general—from a patient’s point of view. Using common terms for easy reading comprehension, the story is about the author’s disease progression as well as her experience during five different surgeries. The book also describes hospital rehabilitation classes, cost of medicines, dietary rules, disturbing effects of anesthesia, and other information about heart disease. Moreover, trust issues with doctors and medical care are explored, as well.

Aside from being a memoir, this book educates readers on what to consider when heart-related medical conditions arise. It renders readers with awareness about different cardiac procedures and interventions for this disease. Imparting knowledge through the author’s first-hand experience, WOMAN HAS HEART ATTACK speaks to cardiologists, medical personnel, cardiac patients, politicians, and those people who fear they have heart disease.

About the Author

Anne Surtees is the daughter of a scientist. Her childhood was spent in Europe, Africa, and many parts of the United States. At the age of nine, she was home-schooled in Zimbabwe. She read all books of interest in the Bulawayo library and started writing books for herself and her sisters to enjoy. Since then, she has completed five novels and autobiographical stories. When a heart attack struck, she immediately wrote about the experience. Many things happened to her heart, and she went through five surgeries.
