About the Author

About the Author Kimberly Barenfanger was born just outside of Orlando, Florida. As an only child, she discovered that animals make the best friends. Because of that, her life has always revolved around them and their well being. She was introduced to exotic animals in 1994 when she began volunteering at a wildlife sanctuary in Ft. Myers, Florida. From then on she was drawn to learning more about these amazing creatures, their habitats and behavioral patterns in the wild. Over the years, she has worked with exotic animals all over Florida in sanctuaries as well as theme park shows. She has had the pleasure of working directly with Asian Elephants, Bengal Tigers, Cougar cubs, Parrots, Burmese Pythons, an Andean Condor and even the uniquely beautiful Cassowary bird of Northern Australia and New Guinea. In 2006 she married her husband who is also an avid animal lover. They currently reside in Miami Beach, Florida, with their three Rat Terrier dogs, two Amazon Parrots and two Burmese Pythons. They continue to share their passion for animals with everyone they know and to promote mutual respect for the Earth and all her treasures.
