About the Book

I had a close friend of the family, who while I was struggling through the tumultuos year of third year of medical school told me that I would end up working in jail if I became a psychiatrist. One of her sons had gone to a fairly prestigious medical school and was not a psychiatrist.

Little did she know, she would be right, and I would work in an environment where I would see some of the most ill individuals in the county. Jails and Prisons have by default now become mental insitutions, where per capita the highest percentage of the mentally ill are now housed.

It helps that I am black and young black males make up a signfigant history of those incarcerated. There are actuaaly more college age black males in our criminal justice system than in college.

About the Author

He was born in Miami and eschewed a path bemoaned by some but to which he was called. Maybe it was the path of least resistence or one chosen by the forces tha shaped and goverend his life. There were some mightier than he who chose a similar path. One of carrying for the most otrasized, criticized, damned, and shuned members of society. He had the audaucity of hope that some of their minds could be quieted from the evil demons that lurked therein. He was educated at two M and M schools, Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga and the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Fla. he was encouraged to write by his loving family who helped him navigate the hallowed halls of the building which houses some of the most troubled minds in Miami Dade County.
