About the Book

What is learned through literature and music is not forgotten. The use of these two disciplines enables the learner to retain information and the teacher utilizes this most effective tool to teach a variety of disciplines. The purpose of Miguel Y Su Instrumento De Viento (Miguel and his recorder) is tri-fold. This timeless multi-cultural folk tale teaches a moral lesson, a simple recorder song utilizing basic beginning notes: G A B and C’ and serves as a Spanish lesson by teaching simple nouns. In addition, the easy recorder song is orchestrated for Orff and is reproducible and should be played either by the teacher or the entire class to help bring the tale to life. The reader of the story should pause for the translation of the Spanish word. During the pause, inevitably, one of the students will know the answer. The bilingual students love to display their knowledge. Good luck and have a great time with this fun-filled tale.
