About the Book

Andrés, like many other kids, doesn’t appreciate anything in his life and is always complaining about everything. One night he goes to bed angry at his mom because she won’t get him something he wants, so before going to sleep he wishes for a new life and new parents. His wish comes true but not exactly the way he expects, and the next day he wakes up in a small and very poor house he doesn’t recognize. Andrés is very upset and confused because even though he wished for a new life, he doesn’t want to be stuck in this new poor life forever. Somehow he is going to have to figure out ‘the secret’ that could take him back to his old life.

About the Author

Silvia E. Calzadilla was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but moved to Venezuela with her family when her father Eduardo graduated from the University of Michigan. In 1981 she moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where she has been living for the past 29 years. As a bilingual entrepreneur, fl uent in Spanish and English, she has owned several businesses serving the Knoxville community. Having experienced domestic violence herself, Silvia pursued a career path that led her to her current position at the Knoxville YWCA where as an Advocate for the Domestic Violence Program she now helps other victimized Hispanic women. In addition to writing children’s books, Silvia is also an artist, a professional chef and loves to make custom fi ne jewelry.
