About the Book

The preschool years of a child’s life are very important. This is when most rapid development of the brain and potential learning occurs. In addition to providing the best for our child’s physical growth and emotional needs, we as parents are their very fi rst perhaps the most important, “teachers”. The interactive time we invest will help them blossom gloriously into a happy, smart child who would appreciate, respect and treasure life as they grow.

My husband strongly believes in this and supports early learning. He has always been enterprising and innovative with his interest in electronics. In an eff ort to instill this in our daughter we began our library visits early, when she was barely 6 months old.

We started off with the activities from the library books, and were soon ready creating our own. By the time she turned two, we had a collection of hands on activities which we referred from library that was much fun to experiment with every day. The way she went about using her hands and feet with the colors and patterns was captivating. I thought I could use her interest with a little learning to recognize alphabets and so came up with the content that you’ll find in this book. My husband started a website where we would upload her art work and share the joy with our parents and other family members living away. Sharing her art with them was always a pleasure and treasure at both ends.

Seeing her art and my ideas together, a close friend suggested that I publish this in a book to help mothers like me spend quality and fun time with their children. It started from there and now a year later, I’m proud to say that my daughter, Ananya (who just turned three) has been my true inspiration and with great help from those little hands, I have created this book.

We have used a variety of techniques like paper crafts, tangrams, hand and foot impressions, finger painting to explore and learn in a fun way. We believe that this kind of learning puts a strong foundation in every child leading them to accomplish greater cognitive skills. Hand, finger and foot print crafts always make great keepsakes. Preserving the wonderful art made by those little fi ngers & toes and the memorable moments spent together are treasure forever.

This book is for parents:

• Who want their child to be self explorative
• Who entertains new ideas and imagination
• Who likes to introduce colors to their child but not sure where to start
• Who wants their child to be innovative
• Who believes learning can be fun in any form

I hope you enjoy reading and exploring this book with your child as much as we did making it.
