About the Book

Set against a backdrop of America on the verge of and engaged in Civil War, I Will Do it! is the story of a woman whose patriotism and rugged determination leads her to form the Mount Vernon Ladies Association of the Union, thereby saving George Washington’s home from certain destruction. Overcoming the odds of being a single female, an invalid and a nation torn apart over slavery, she uses her educational background, family connections and unlikely partners to battle the Virginia State Legislature and secure the money to purchase President Washington’s home and grave, Mount Vernon.

About the Author

Joanne Shelby-Klein is Registered Nurse of 26 years and a Civil War Living Historian of 20 years. This is her first historical fiction novel. Her Living History articles have been published in the 9th Pa Reserves Civil War Re-enactors newsletters and website. She is a board member of the 9th Pa Reserves and a member of the Association of Lincoln Presenters. She won the Outstanding Mary Lincoln Award for 2005 from the ALP. She does first person presentations on Mary Todd Lincoln as well as the main character of the novel. She resides in Monroeville Pa with her husband Michael.
