This inspirational, life based memoir, tells the story of a young lady forced to grow up fast at the hands of her parental responsibility. Aleshia advocates for her medically fragile daughter who goes from being born prematurely to defying the odds. Her transparency in this book is commendable as she dissects her story piece by piece. In addition to life lessons, she gives her inspirational insights to show that through any situation you can prevail with faith and persistence.

About the Author

Aleshia Shellman-Sumpter, known to many simply as “Lisha,” was reared in the small town of Folkston, Georgia. She graduated from Charlton County High School in 1998 and went on to attend Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia, where she majored in Business Management. She also attended Ogeechee Technical College, majoring in Cosmetology. After graduating from Cosmetology school, Aleshia worked in the hair care industry for many years before becoming an educator in 2006 for Joico International, a major hair care manufacture. Out of the necessity of caring for a disabled child, she became the sole owner and operator of Xpressionz Hair Salon in Folkston, Georgia in 2007. Since Aleshia was her own boss, this allowed her the freedom she needed to thoroughly care for her sick child. Although her accomplishments in the hair industry are many, there is no job any greater or more rewarding than being a loving mother and adored wife.
