About the Book

About the Author

Although now an American citizen, Molly Owen has a duel citizenship for she was born in Ireland and spent her early years in county Dublin. This entitles her also to an Irish passport. She was a good horsewoman and an avid skier. In the fall of 1939 as Hitler’s hordes were moving into Poland, Molly set on a round-the-world tour with her Victorian mother. While in Hong Kong, Molly meets and later marries a British Naval Officer. After moving to Singapore and a brief honeymoon, her husband is abruptly ordered to sea on a classified mission leaving his bride to face returning home on her own as the Far East and Europe swirl into war. Her story is one of ingenuity and determination as she struggles through situations she is ill prepared for not only to reach England and her husband but also then to join the war effort. Ultimately she works for the American Red Cross in England, France, and Germany until they closed the last of their European clubs. During the late forties and early fifties Molly returns to Germany to work for the International Refugee Organization and finally as their U. S. foreign correspondent. In 1953 she immigrates to the USA. The story opens up a new freedom for the young of love that brought light to darkness and heartaches that would never heal. It was a generation that changed the world. Hers is a delightful tale of dedicated action and intrigue at a high level as she meets, flirts with, and gets to know persons of high places, both Americans and British. At an early age she mentions attending a Hitler rally. During those later years she meets General Eisenhower, Admiral Sir Percy Noble, R.N. Commander of the British Western Approaches (the Atlantic etc.), General De Gaul of France, General Clay, and Walter Giesaking, world famous German pianist.
