About the Author

Dave Werschkul has a Bachelor and Masters of Science from the University of Oregon and a Ph. D. in Zoology from Mississippi State University. He has worked as a research ecologist, environmental consultant, government scientist, congressional aide, environmental activist, elected official, and writer of general history books. Over the last 30 years he has traveled extensively in Baja California, visited all of the 28-plus mission sites and thoroughly researched the colonial history of the Americas and the contributions of Spain to the history of the United States. He lives with his wife of 30 years in Southern Oregon.
