About the Book
My name is Edith Juanita McGee-Poet I was born in segregated South 1949. I was born a very poor child. My mother worked for the white people. Cleaning there’s homes. She would bring the children with her. My mother gave birth to 3 children. My brother Malcolm McGee, Tony McGee, myself Edith J. McGee. I never knew if I was black or white my mother told me I was part white. My mother bought me too New York. I was in and out of foster homes, and children’s shelters. I gave birth too five children. Finally my life began to take its toll on my body with numerous ailments and illnesses. Writing poetry saved my life. It gave me faith and hope not expressed in words.
About the Author
My name is Edith Juanita McGee-Poet I am the mother of 5 children. I went to High School in Brooklyn, Sara J. Hill High School. I went to the 12th grade. I took nursing. I worked with the 9th precinct. I was a police officer, before I became sick. I first got sick at 21 years too 54 years old. I was a police officer for 41/2 years. While I was a police officer I saved 2 girls life, by myself. I broke up a group of 100 people fighting each other in the street by myself. I was a foster mother without pay. I took in over 40 children over the years. My daughter Catherine is a police also.
