About the Book

If Sadie Alsofrom had listened to her family none of this would have happened. Why would a nice Jewish girl walk out of her marriage and into Presidential politics? Who ever heard of giving up a secure comfortable life to be a national schlepper? This is the mostly true story of how that happened.

When Sadie decided she wanted to work in the White House, she had absolutely no political skills or experience. But what she did have was far more important -- a lifetime of living with her family. From that she had gained determination, exuberance and the most potent weapon, chutzpah. She adhered to the old lesson, when life throws you a lemon, make chicken soup. What she didn’t know, she learned, enabling her to rise rapidly through the ranks from being a lowly volunteer to becoming a Special Advisor to Presidential candidate Governor Jim Michaels. Guided always by the voice – and often the presence -- of her large colorful family, Sadie’s true to life adventures take the reader into the fascinating world of Presidential politics.

About the Author

Iris Burnett, with over 30 years experience in academia, politics and government, played key roles in five Presidential campaigns, been advisor to two Presidents, and Communication Strategist for far too many elected officials. She is the first and only woman to have directed security for a National Political Convention. A resident of Arlington,Virginia, and New York City, she is married to photojournalist David Burnett. They have two children and a big, colorful, extended Jewish family. Kathleen Johnson Murphy, is a political strategist, writer, former television producer and scriptwriter whose works include projects on HBO, CBS, and Nickelodeon.
