About the Book
Today’s parents face the ever changing challenges of parenthood. Current research reports parents representing a broad spectrum of academic, socioeconomic and racial backgrounds find mastery of acquiring and implementing successful parenting skills is rare and difficult. Lack of preparation for becoming a parent, childhood observation of parents in action, society’s legal and moral actions and reactions to parenting, as well as, litigation threats associated with parents and discipline can render parenting a lonely and debilitating experience. In this one-of-a-kind book, Dr. Vaughn seeks to erase the fear of parenting, and render a systematic approach to normal parenting processes for raising a successful child. She writes frankly about her experiences as a child, her parenting experiences and reports the success factors adults associate with being raised by concerned parents in “tough love” environments. Dr. Vaughn brings together theories, methodologies and techniques for leadership, communication, cognitive development, empowerment and assessment strategies presented in institutions and organizations and applies them to parental options and consequences associated with raising a successful child. This is a book of systems and hope that places parenthood within life’s cycle as “the gateway to becoming a satisfied grandparent.” For adults who experience parenthood, numerous individuals who aspire to be parents and those who anticipate the enjoyment of being a grandparent - The Art of Raising A Successful Child is certain to become a required source of reference.
