About the Book

Mystery surrounds the House on Blue Lake Drive. Two friends, Kathy West and Jodi Austin, play amateur detectives and run into more problems than they bargained for. Right after the elderly couple, Chet and Nora Lindstrom, sell their beautiful home to Steve and Kathy West, strange things begin happening. Noises that cannot be accounted for and a stranger asking nosey questions about the Lindstroms, in an attempt to find where they moved to. Although Kathy and Jodi are married, their husbands have no idea what is going on and the girls want to keep it that way, that is, until one of them sustains a bad injury and lands in the hospital, after their car is pulled over on a dark road and a masked man attacks them.

About the Author

Barbara Ward was born in a small mid western town. Her father worked for the railroad and that meant moving around every few years, often to different states. The family did not settle down in a permanent home until her father retired. By then, she was married and had a home of her own. Raising children left no time to attend college but Barbara never lost her desire to go. When her children were teenagers, she began taking classes at a junior college. She first chose Sociology as her major, and became a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, a Sociology Honor Society. Later, she changed her major to Paralegal studies and within a few years, obtained her degree and began working for law firms. Still, she wasn’t through going to school and a few years later, she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree. She continued working for law firms for a number of years, planning that some day when she had the opportunity, she would try her hand at writing fiction, especially a mystery. She had gained plenty of writing experience from the many essays and research papers she wrote for classes as well as pleadings utilized in law firms. Working as a paralegal provided many cases with varied circumstances and information, subjects she feels are good fuel for a mystery. Although this particular story does not use the expertise of a paralegal, she plans to write her next book, basically fiction, on experiences a paralegal might encounter.
