About the Book
"Expressions From My Heart" is a poetry book which reflects some of my interactions with the people I meet and people who inspire me to write. I also reflect on some of my personal life experiences and write about them. Every person has a story. I’d like to look at my poetry collection as a book of short stories-short stories that you can all relate to in your everyday life. "Expressions From My Heart" includes poems about love, injustice, death, and relationships.
About the Author
Marcia Baker-Johnson was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Marcia attended the University of Minnesota where she majored in dental hygiene, with a minor in public health and sociology. Marcia was nominated in Who’s Who in America in 2004 for thirty-two years in service as a dental hygienist. Marcia was inspired to write her first poem by the death of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968. Her first poem, “Ode to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,” started her on her path to writing. “My writing reflects some of my life interactions. People inspire me to write by what they say, do, and often by what they don’t say. My poetry comes from my heart.”
