About the Book

A trip to Long Island from the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts to visit his friend, Jack, finds retired detective Marcel Labell involved in solving the mystery of a series of murders on the east end. Relying on his past experiences as a detective with the Boston police department as well as his wit and charm, Labell skillfully ingratiates himself into a small community. Fall is a beautiful time of the year to visit the Hamptons on Long Island. The foliage is dressed in splendid reds, yellows, and burgundies. The beaches are once again free from the summer crowds. Unusual events begin to occur in the small town of East Hampton after Labell’s arrival. Always one by nature to question circumstances, Labell involves himself as well as his friend, Jack, in the immediate investigations of the disappearance of the son of a sergeant from the local police precinct and the seemingly accidental death of the wife of a businessman. Janeene, a beautiful young woman with a psychic gift works closely with Labell to make sense of feelings and images she is experiencing. A certain chemistry appears evident between Labell and Janeene from the first time they met. The sudden death of her great aunt raises many questions. The local police are stumped. The police accept the help of Labell to assist with searching for plausible clues. Labell never lost his investigative nose for searching out and interpreting hidden information that was by-passed by others. The question arises; do these untimely events have a common deonominator? Labell’s quest to befriend community residents results in a relationship with a tow truck driver who knows all the ins and outs of the area and promises to be a good source of information. Labell realizes the importance of all contacts outside of the police department and has learned through experience to trust no one except those who have proven themselves worthy of trust. P.J. A native of Long Island, he has woven a story with an interesting collage of characters that takes place on the beautiful east end of Long Island.
