About the Author

The Special Kids of Sharon are real puppy-dogs, who are next door neighbors and live on a quiet street called Sharon. Hence, the title of the series. All of the Kids (dogs) needless to say, are very much loved very “Special” and the inspiration for the books. The series consists of three books. “The Wagon”, “The Monster”, “A Rainy Day”. All of the illustrations are unique in the fact, they are created using actual pictures by the author, Abbey and Jakeys mom. Phyllis Yohn-Rhodes lives in the small town of Mechanicsburg, PA with her husband Dusty and of course the ruler of the household, “Jakey” a male cocker spaniel. Who had been abused and rescued. He came into her life, after Abbeys death, because it was meant to be. The sudden loss of her beloved Abbey from hemolytic anemia was devastating. Abbey is deeply missed but never forgotten. An animal lover and protector all of her life, Phyllis is always trying to make things better for them, hoping and hoping abuse could be NO MORE. Along with Abbey and Jakey, the author is setting up a fund called, “The Abbey and Jakey Fund”. A percentage of any profits from the sale of the books will go into this fund and used to help beloved pets of the elderly on a fixed income that could use a little help with the cost of their pet care. Sometimes we forget all of the needs of the elderly, and the importance of animals in their lives. Look for the newest book “Abbey and Jakey” a true story about two special cocker spaniels. This book is an inspirational story that may make you a believer or at least make you look at things a lot closer, and hopefully help someone who has lost a beloved pet. Also included in this book is “Jakey’s Happy Tale” a delightful picture story told by Jakey.
