About the Author
Ed Orzac wrote the Travel Health Column for Travel Holiday Magazine for many years. His articles were not only based on his professional knowledge (he is a board certified M.D.) but also on having worked, taught, and lived for over twenty years in Afghanistan, Nepal, India, and Indonesia. Dr. Ed. Served for four years in the U.S. Army during World War II for two years of which were in North Africa and Italy. He saw war first hand as a medical officer with an infantry division and was honorably discharged in the grade of major at the war’s end. In private practice for thirty-five years and as Medical Director of a large voluntary hospital complex, he took eight weeks off every year to serve as a visiting professor in Asian countries under the auspices of Care Medico, the Direct Relief Foundation, and others. To sum it up, Dr. Ed has lived an exciting and venturesome life. His stories will make you smile or make you sad. As he stated, “It’s a strange world out there. Don’t take it too seriously.”
