About the Book

“DESTINED” (Prequel to THE GREEN-EYED FREAK) Finding a ‘white’ baby on her doorsteps, Sadie Parker names her Margaret Parker and rears her. Margaret meets and falls in love with the handsome Samuel Spivey When he receives his commission to serve in the Marine Corps, because his father is a racist, Sam and Margaret wed secretly. When Sam leaves for service, Margaret is raped by Sam’s crazed ‘brother’, Gordon Ellis. Margaret is in a dilemma when she discovers she is pregnant. When the child is born, Margaret concludes that Gordon is the father, for the baby is a horrible looking green-eyed freak. Sam becomes missing in action. Margaret’s dilemma becomes a nightmare when Gordon, declaring the baby is his, kidnaps her. Tragedy strikes! Will Margaret reach her destiny?

About the Author

A Southern black woman, born during the Depression Era, I am the great granddaughter of a slave – Henderson Sanderson – born in 1845. Mother of ten children (two deceased), I am a retiree of the Wake County Public Schools System in Raleigh, N. C. where I was employed as a clerk in the Purchasing Dept. for twenty-three years. I have authored two other works of fiction – “DESTINED” which is a prequel to “THE GREEN-EYED FREAK”. “IN A WHALE’S BELLY” is my third published work of fiction. Retired since 1991, I enjoy directing church plays, reading, writing, working word puzzles, and being with my family.
