About the Book
As I Roc The Mic is a collection of poems--raw thoughts--written in the first person point of view of a young black girl who throughout her 26 years of living has experienced love, race pride, abuse, religion and revolution. This collection is neither written in any particular order, nor does it follow the conventions of American poetry. Instead, As I Roc The Mic is colorfully black, filled with rhythm, be-bop, and blues.
