This book details with what went wrong in Mr. Laird’s early schooling and the effects that teachers and parents have on one’s ability to learn. It shows the difference between a mother that had great expectations for her child and a mother that felt that the school and teachers should set these expectations. The book tells how a Military School helped Mr. Laird overcome his learning problems and shows that against overwhelming odds a student can overcome learning disabilities and become an honor student. A brief history of Hollywood along with interesting people Mr. Laird encountered is also given.


About the Author

Clinton Laird was born in Hollywood, California in 1943. He attended grade school in Carmel, California were he developed a learning disability. He entered Brown Military Academy in San Diego, California in 1957 not being able to read or write. In 1961 he graduated from Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville Georgia achieving academic Honors. He attended the University of Miami, El Camino College, California Polytechnic College, San Jose City College, and San Jose State University. In 1969 he went to work for the City of Santa Clara as an Engineering Aide and worked his way up to Senior Distribution Supervisor.
