About the Book

The birth of Love, Life, Mayhem started early 2003 in Philadelphia, PA. The components of Love, Life and Mayhem are some of the things I experienced and observed in life. I call Love, Life and Mayhem my diary. I wanted to orchestrate a book where people of all races and social backgrounds can relate to. I didn’t want to be biased in my work because it may offend some individuals. I feel as though Love, Life and Mayhem can be understood, appreciated and enjoyed by all around the world. Thank you, Evan P. Long

About the Author

Evan Payton Long was born on November 10, 1979 in Philadelphia, PA. As a child during the summer months, his mother Elizabeth Payton would assign Evan book reports. With Evan being stubborn towards doing the book reports, he didn’t know that Elizabeth planted the initial seed that would crown Evan as one of the best writers in history. During his teenage years, Evan grew an appreciation for writing. He came from a family of writers. His mother Elizabeth helped Evan write a speech to compete in the African-American Oratorical Contest during his senior year of high school in February 1997. The competition was held at the Philadelphia Board of Education where Evan was one of nine finalists throughout the city and received an award for third place. While attending Clark-Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA, in which Evan received a B.A. in Mass Media Arts in 2002, something grew over him. His late uncle George Payton Jr. (Uncle Georgie), who was shot and killed two weeks before Evan’s birth was a superb writer. Evan states, “My mother stated many times of how Uncle Georgie could put words together.” Even though Evan and Uncle Georgie never met, Evan is amazed at the similarities they both share. Those similarities include sharing the same passion for writing, both were school teachers, and both possess a good personality. With that being said, Evan felt as though it is his responsibility to continue the legacy of his uncle’s gift. On August 13, 2004, Evan was inducted in the International Society of Poets in Philadelphia, PA. Also, on June 11, 2003, Evan had the grand opportunity to perform his poetry live at the Apollo theatre in New York City. Evan’s other performances include stage, “The Three Kings”, “Chicago”, “Politics and Bullskits” and local poetry readings in the Philadelphia and Atlanta areas. Currently, Evan resides in Atlanta, GA where he continues to pursue his future endeavors.
