About the Book

Spread your wings and soar to enlightenment and peace with this charming poetry and devotional book from Anika-Tené. When Worms Take Flight illustrates the metamorphosis of a Christian through the life cycle of the butterfly; from being a lowly worm to becoming a glorious manifestation of beauty. Indeed, our redemption as followers of Christ require struggle but the reward is beyond our imagination. Writing with heartfelt verses, the author guides us through 31 days of scripture and her own reflections through poetry. She invites us to participate by providing space on the pages to write our own thoughts. This book will help you to find encouragement as you meditate on the miracle of Christian transfiguration.

About the Author

Anika’s first memory of beginning the hair journey was of when she was 4 or 5 years old and her mom got her hair cut into an afro. Anika remembers sitting in the car as her mom pulled off the scarf and revealed that all of her hair had been cut! At that young age, Anika remembers being so impacted about the importance of embracing how God has naturally made her hair. Her mom had the most beautiful hair and she was willing to be so radical as to cut it off in order to make such a bold statement. Her mom passed that strength on to her in that moment and it is that strength that has not only pushed her to accept how God naturally made her, but to also pursue all of her hopes and dreams. Anika has a B.A. in elementary education, an M.A. in theater education, an M.M. in music education and is presently pursuing a PhD in theater and literacy education. She has worked as an elementary school teacher, performing arts teacher and high school literature teacher for many years. In addition, she is a vocalist, specializing in inspirational jazz. It is her hope to use her creative ability to teach others the truths God has taught her through her own life’s journey.
