About the Book

In The Heat Of The Storm is the tangled tale of floundering show business persona intertwined with their obscene wealth and influence, where success at any price prevails. It opens in Hollywood, California and ends in a remote Nebraska farmland in the dead of winter. Lyle Carr, a motion picture director and writer is compelled to go to New York to direct his new stage play. He takes Polly Pyle, a fledgling actress that he has been training for the stage, with him. But instead of flying, he foolishly elects to drive his low-slung sports car. When the car runs out of gas and his cell phone fails, he realizes his life-threatening mistake. There is a strong possibility that he and Polly could easily freeze to death in the Nebraska blizzard, far removed from the glamour of Hollywood. While Lyle and Polly are wallowing their way though this predicament, Brenda Stiles, Lyle’s secretary has a challenge of her own back in California. Through her association with Lyle, Brenda has met and is socializing with Cindy Barnes, a very wealthy, successful but rebellious and usually enebriated screen actress. Brenda is very nearly murdered in Cindy’s mansion but is saved from the brink by Fred Compton, a probing newspaper reporter.
