About the Book
The author’s life with Lucy the wolf-dog inspired this series of eight short stories. Each tale is an adventure featuring Lucy, along with other animals and special people in her life. In each story young readers will find courage, compassion, hope and laughter – courtesy of Lucy and some unusual critters. In “Homecoming” a wonderful new family member is welcomed when fear and prejudice are put away. From “Lucy’s Goose” we learn how a dog can be more humane than a human -- and make a miracle happen. “The Wild Beginning” is a story of hope after a family tragedy in the wild. “Best Friends” tells the tale of two very unusual and courageous animal companions –teamed in a battle for their lives. An amazing animal rescue takes place in “Coon Hound.” In “Fostering Foster” Lucy helps a young friend find a new family. “Cabin Adventures” shows the importance of listening to our animal friends and nature. And, in “Therapy Dog” Lucy finds the perfect career! Each story is enhanced with cartoon illustrations that will delight readers, young and old.
