About the Author

My name is Michelle Brunner. I live in Indiana with my husband and my children. I have worked with special needs children and adults on and off for 14 years. Working in the school system is where I met Preston and his mom. Preston has taught me a lot about Autism. I wanted to write this book to try to help explain Autism to younger children. I continue to work with special needs students today. Even though I am not working directly with Preston, I still get to see him quite often. Preston will always be an important part of my life. He is a great teacher and a true friend. About the REAL Preston… Preston is a 9 year old boy that was diagnosed with Autism when he was two and a half years old. Preston enjoys playing with trains and watching movies about cars. He is also a whiz on a computer! Preston has a wonderful mom, a supportive older sister, and a sweet dog named Bentley. Preston goes to a public school where he attends a general education class. There are very few adaptations for him and he receives grades just like his peers. Preston is a funny, energetic and very loving boy. He definitely makes the world a little brighter.
