About the Book
Havana Broken Whole is a sparkly, fun and eclectic collection of poetry. The poems in this volume range from being insightful and thought provoking, to whimsical and musical. Some poems make references to nostalgic aspects of being Cuban-American, yet most speak to the poignancy and wonder of a variety of human experiences. There are some poems that have phrasing or are entirely written in Spanish. There is a psychological flavor to quite a few works, as the author is a Cuban-American clinical psychologist who has been writing poetry for several decades. This psychological perspective at times incorporates irony and paradox to imbue with quirkiness. One of the quirkiest poems in this volume admonishes with a lot of “don’ts” (hint: reread the poem without the “don’ts”.)
Buen provecho! Enjoy!
