About the Book

Patrick, the main character, went to school and later had to take care of his little sister Jennifer. He had no way of feeding her except for food from the garbage can, and that even ran out. Patrick came home from school and found Jen sitting on the floor, eating maggots. He knew then that he had to find other means of feeding Jen. But then Jen died, and he was later convicted for murdering their mother after an intense encounter with her. It was during his time in prison when he got the time to read Psalm 23 and every law book provided by his close friend, Charlie. This gave him the strength to overcome all his struggles. He also discovered that his mother was not really dead. A year later, with the help of Mr. Wade, his attorney, he became a big-time lawyer. Patrick explains to everyone that by keeping God in his life, he made it through, that God loves everyone, and that God will see them through. All it takes is faith, strength, hope, and trust.

About the Author

I was born and raised on a plantation, where I had to pick and chop cotton, and hardly went to school, because of the crops. I was eleven when my older sibling had left home. And when I was twelve, my mother left me, my father, and my four younger siblings. My father then moved us to a small town called Arkadelphia, Arkansas. In this way, we were able to go to school (what a day it was to leave the plantation). I made sure we all went to school except the youngest who was only three years old. Through all the bumpy roads I traveled, I was determined to go to school. And I did just that and finished high school.
