When asked to write a few words about myself and how I started writing poetry, my thoughts had to travel quite a ways back in life to start picking up reasons to pen. When I was in my teens, I can remember waking up during the night and seemed like a voice speaking things which rhymed and that made sense to me, but I never gave it a thought to write them down until I was well up in years and one day it hit me that this was the voice of God revealing to me a gift to write poetry so then is when I started my collection of poetry. This is how I arrived at the name of my book, “When God Speaks…Write”. I received an award for National Poet Laureate in 2000 from Poets.com and also was recognized as National Judge by them the same year. My poem “Did She Weep” was at the top of the highest rated 100 poems for several weeks. I wrote “Angel Flight” the night my wonderful husband of 52 years was slipping into Eternity at Hospice in 2007 and it has received National Recognition on Poetry.com. I dedicate my book to my children, Dwayne, Julia, Keith, Janet and Linda and all their loved ones they have added. My greatest Love is God as my Father, for without Him, I am nothing. Just a word to those who may be hearing a voice speaking a collage of words only to you in silence, write those words down, and see what happens. With a little effort on your part, you may become a poet!
