About the Author

MIKE THOMPSON is the first American-born son of a British Caribbean family whose patriarch, Thomas Thomsone, migrated in 1750 at age 23 from cold Scotland to warm Grand Cayman Island–in hot pursuit of freedom. A native Floridian, Mike Thompson has been CEO of a major Miami advertising agency, a popular South Florida radio/television talk-show host, Sunday editor of The Miami News, and four times was elected Republican state committeeman by Florida’s most populous county (Dade). Graduated by the University of Miami with honors in history, he has written and produced eight public-policy TV specials, winning the George Washington Gold Medal from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge for his pro-Second Amendment rights “Gun Grabbers.” He also has authored two nonfiction books, Preying in School and What’s the Difference? Mike Thompson and his wife, Pat, recently retired to North Carolina’s mountain-ringed Biltmore Lake, near Asheville.
