I am the MAN amongst the mice that surround me. What separates me from them is the simple fact that I chose my path. Before the age of thirteen, I would play with the other kids, but I spent most of my time sitting down and thinking of how I’m going to get that money. Fuck all that toys, candy, and child bullshit! I had many siblings around me, but my father always said to my mom, “Helen, that boy is going to be a hustler or a damn serial killer out of the bunch!” And guess what, he was RIGHT. Some time after I had turned thirteen, I joined the Crips Organization. Once I joined the gang, I never looked back because I knew it was my calling in life. That beautiful blue organization let me be who I really was, and that, my friend, was an OG. It’s a good thing you didn’t know me during that time of my life. The man that you should fear most is the man that doesn’t fear at all! In this line of work, a person can’t afford to fear anything because hesitation while brandishing a weapon means the death penalty. At the time, I didn’t care if you were someone’s child, a mother, or a fucking COP. I would have killed anyone who stood in my way. You dig? I had to do whatever it took to get the job done. When I was in that type of lifestyle, I got so focused on that damn money that I didn’t care what it took to get it. But now that I’m older, I look back and realize that I was lucky to make it through it all. I saw a lot of my homies go to prison and, worse, get killed. Also, now that I’m older and have kids of my own, I feel that I’m compelled to tell my story—to tell the youngsters of today that this is not the way. I want to use my experiences that I wrote in the book to show you the real meaning of GANGSTERS.
