About the Book
This is a coming of age story of a young slave girl from the state of Maryland. Living at a time when People of Color were treated and traded like livestock. Her story tells of the trials she endured in the attempt to travel to freedom on the Underground Railroad. Her growing friendship with one of history’s greatest abolitionist, Harriet Tubman is one of the highpoints of this story. Her journey from slavery to freedom was one of bravery.
About the Author
Darlene Williams is a retired member of the Elk Grove Senior Center I have been a member of a writing group at the center for several years. Writing this book has become a labor of love. Publishing of my book has come at the encouragement of the ladies in my group. We meet Monday of each week and compare stories. My efforts in writing come as a result of words from the ladies. Darlene is the mother of five adults and grandmother to nine. When she is not busy writing she enjoys ceramics and crocheting.
