About the Book

Focusing a variety of subjects - life, death, love, the whimsical, the philosophical - the author´s poems and stories present his readers with special windows into his unique visions and interpretations of the world. He writes poems and stories for all ages and is truly at home with both genres. The author is currently working on a second book of poetry for children.

About the Author

J.R. Paruolo is a native of Long Island, New York and continues to live and work there. Although not presently teaching, he holds an M.A. in Education from Hofstra University. He also studied English literature at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. For the past 20 years he has worked in the electric energy conservation industry helping combat the global warming crisis. Although his primary interest is poetry, he is also an accomplished digital photographer, focusing his efforts on macro, nature and landscape subjects. A Place of Departure is his first book of poetry. Previously, his poetry appeared in the Wind Horse Review.
