About the Author

Joseph A. Miksch is 69 years old! A rock climber who has climbed extensively in the U.S. and the Swiss Alps for the past 46 years, a pilot's license with an instructor's rating, he has been on a honeymoon, stalked a bear with a sledgehammer and charged a moose. Writing being one of his hobbies, he has been published in a number of magazines such as The Catholic Digest, Liguorian, St. Anthony Messenger, the Priest and has contributed a number articles which were published in Priests Are People, Too! Although he has had many thrills as a rock climber and pilot, none compare to the thrills he has experienced as a Catholic priest. In Fantastic Vocation he shares the joy and excitement he has experienced as a priest engaged in pastoral ministry, a ministry in which he has been privileged to witness "miracles of God’s grace." "Father Miksch has produced a delightful work with many touching stories and pastoral reflections on his life as a parish priest. The reader will readily see his deep faith and love for Christ. There is much food for medication. This is a refreshing look at the Priesthood from the eyes of one who lived it, loved it and reverenced it." Most Rev. Anthony M. Milone, D.D. Bishop Emeritus of Great Falls-Billings Diocese "Father Joe's reflections on more than 40 years of priestly ministry are a beautiful testimony to God's love and action in the life of a priest, and in the lives of those many people the priest is privileged to serve. His wonder and awe before the mystery of grace at work in his parishioners is palpable. In short, Fr. Joe shows us what a priestly heart really is." Rev. Steven J. Lopes, STD Secretary to Cardinal William J. Lavada, S.T.D. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Rome
