Mauclair Simon was born in the village of Bassin-Bleu located in the Nord-Ouest department of Haiti. Holder of a BS in education, MS in bilingual education, and advanced certificate in school administration, he also has a master degree in social work and numerous certificates in pastoral counseling. He is a certified crisis intervention counselor. After completing his army services, he taught in the New York public school system until his retirement. An ordained permanent deacon for the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens, he is presently assigned at St. Therese of Lisieux Roman Catholic Church. Also, he works as an assistant supervisor in the general preventive Unit for a human services agency.
Mauclair lives in Brooklyn and spends his summer in Haiti enjoying writing and hunting chicken guinea.
