About the Author

Born the son of a miner in North-East England in 1951, James self-educated his way out of street crime. Never accepting the hand he was dealt and with his ever-present rejection of accepted conventional thinking and behaviour, James traversed the hot spots of the world, including Lebanon and apartheid South Africa. He used his unique professional career as a ticket to ride. His contrasting, award-wining businesses provided the trappings of life few ever receive. A life of controversy and extremes, never far from Palestinian and black freedom liberationalists, James had left the streets, but the streets had not left James. Following countless high court cases, ‘JR’ lifestyle and a gun-wielding ex-wife, James ‘blew up the bridges’ to his past, leaving behind the tragic loss of two entire families, together with several near-death experiences. With the onset of midlife schizophrenia (traditional treatments of which caused the suicide of his mother), James adopted the alternative therapy of writing down the conflicting voices inside his head, and found his joy, his peace and his God.
