Grandpa’s Stump is a story of one family’s survival, growth, commitment to God, family, neighbors, and friends. It is a story of a struggling, rural at first, modern, surviving family that helped to pull each other through hard times. The loving traits and characteristics of the family have endured to this day.

About the Author

Jim Shepard was born in Ben Hill County, Georgia, in 1934. He is a graduate of Stetson University, DeLand, Florida, and Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His major fields of study were American history and United States foreign relations. He is a retired US Army officer and two-tour veteran of the Vietnam War, 1965 and 1969. He and his wife Ruth live in Williamsburg, Virginia.
