About the Book

Denby, a mischievous piglet, finds life on the farm boring. Every day he stands at the gate of his pig pen, staring at the farmyard beyond…really believing that fun adventures await. But can he disobey Mommy and go out the gate? Does he dare get his younger brother Petey to join him in one more of his crazy schemes which will probably get them both into trouble? In Denby’s mind the immediate answer is…YES! In this whimsical tale find out what happens when Denby and Petey go out the gate they’ve been warned about. See how that adventure leads Denby into even bigger trouble because he vows to come up with a plan to ‘get even’ with his sisters Maisie and Josie, who tease and taunt them after Mommy catches them returning. The plan takes an unexpected twist for the whole pig family, and they all learn a lot about love and family relationships while enjoying some humorous and unusual fun. Read, enjoy, and see what lesson Denby learns and decide if you think he will be a truly ‘reformed’ piglet for long.

About the Author

Mrs. Shirley M. Kuphal, author of Flavor’s Wild Wish, is a retired teacher of 30+ years. She recalls that upon retirement her co-workers asking what she planned to do during retirement. Her answer: “I’ve always wanted to write a children’s book.” So now here is her second book, which she hopes will bring smiles and enjoyment to all who read it. She believes that reading is very important to children’s development and future success, so she often donates books and she has given books for birthdays and special holidays for many years. She would like to challenge others to do the same. Besides writing, she fills her days enjoying her family (two children, four grandchildren, and husband), friends in Wisconsin and Texas (they winter in Texas), volunteering, reading, camping, and pursuing crafts and several hobbies. She currently makes her home with husband, Al, in the small city of Markesan, Wisconsin.
