This book is about christian parenting among immigrants in the United States. It acknowledges various studies to show the significance of the phenomenon. This book informs its readers that the primary responsibility of parents, guardians and other adults is to take care of and nurture their children to become productive and responsible citizens especially in a world full of corruption, immorality and indiscipline. The book encourages biblical principles to be a model in raising children and young adults among immigrant Christians. This book addresses some of the concerns and struggles of immigrant parents as they raise their children and young adults in the United States. It explores different parenting beliefs among immigrant population and provides coping strategies that can assist these parents in parenting their children and young adults effectively in the United States. Finally, this book emphasizes religion as an important source of strength and support among immigrant parents while raising their young adults in the United States and provide better ways that human services practitioners can work with immigrant parents as they raise their children and young adults in the United States.


About the Author

Michael O. Akintayo holds a Bachelor's degree (Hons) in Sociology, M.Sc in Administration (Human Services), Graduate Cert., degree in Online Teaching Education, Graduate Cert. in Health Care Administration and a Ph.D in General Human Services specializing in marriage and family issues and Administration. He is employed as a Public Health Advisor with the New York Department of Health and Mental Hygiene since 1997. He is an Adjunct Professor, a Grant Writer, and Program Director. He has 17 years of experience in human and health care services. Dr. Michael O. Akintayo is also an ENRICH/PREPARED Counselor for marriage and family stability. He has attended trainings and workshops on Family and Marriage, and Non Profit Administration. He attended Smart Marriages Conference in 2008 and participated in workshops on Ten Great Dates. Active Relationships, Fireproof Marriage workshop, ENRICH/PREPARE sessions, Strengthening Stepfamilies, Active Parenting for Teens, Workshops on Private Fundraising, Operating Budgeting and Finances for Nonprofit, The Essential Humility in Marriage and Five Love Languages; Grant Writing. SWOT: Analysis and Strategic Planning: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunity and Threats in Organization. He is married and blessed with children.
