About the Author

Janice Popp Sheetz is a native Oregonian who has had a lifetime affiliation with the Apostolic Christian Church. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Lewis & Clark College, and taught high school German and English in Michigan before her three children were born. In 1979 she got her Master’s degree from the University of Oregon, and worked for twenty-one years as a School Psychologist for Portland Public Schools, where she honed her writing skills by writing hundreds of educational assessment reports. Her father John Popp, and more recently, her husband Richard, made multiple trips to Ghana as representatives of the Western Missionary Committee for the ACC. Janice first became acquainted with Rex in 1986 when he came to Portland to study. In 1991, Janice accompanied her husband to Ghana on a mission trip, and has made four subsequent trips with him. She loves Ghanaian music, fabric and fashion, and is especially fond of plantain chips!
